Records Management

The Records Management (RM) policy and associated records retention schedule forms part of an overarching Information management framework (http://resources.glos.ac.uk/publications/irsp/index.cfm ), that was approved by EPRC in January 2011.

The creation and disposal of information within a controlled environment of Information Security (ISO 27001), is particularly important to the institution in this passage of time in terms of space and financial constraints.

A Records Management Policy combined with a records retention schedule provides a framework in which the organisation can identify the type(s) of information held, and a disposal strategy that is based on guidance and good practice from the sector.

The approval of the Information Management framework of documents was the first step in a four stage process in 2011 to:

  1. Develop and gain approval for RM policy and related records retention schedule
    (Completed - January 2011)
  2. Develop a web based authenticated framework for the collection and management of information held within the institution  (April 2011)
  3. Collect first draft of information from faculties/departments  (July 2011)
  4. Analyse and adjust information in preparation for a completed records retention schedule
    (September 2011)
