Policies and Procedures Freedom of Information The Freedom of Information Act came into full force in January 2005. Its purpose is to promote greater openness and accountability across the public sector. Under the terms of the Act, there is a general right of public access to all types of recorded information held by ‘public bodies’, which includes schools, colleges and universities. Under the provisions of the Act you can access information held by the University of Gloucestershire in two ways:
