Barbara Machin Barbara Machin is an Emmy award winning television writer with over fifty hours of prime-time television to her credit. She has had, productions on all the major British TV channels and has many TV films to her name, specialising in long-running series including 'Waking the Dead' and 'Casualty'. With 'Waking the Dead', Barbara secured the award for the Best Drama Series at the 2004 Emmys. Barbara took a degree in English at Hull University and then a postgraduate Diploma in Education (Distinction) at Manchester University. She was a lecturer in Further Education for three years (English and Drama) during which time she wrote radio plays, published poetry and won The Vogue Young Writer of the Year Competition. Barbara regularly sits on awards panels for Women in Film, BAFTA and The Royal Television Society. She has worked extensively with the Arvon Foundation, has lectured on her work for the BBC at international conferences and spoke at the inaugural Screenwriters' Festival in Cheltenham in 2006.
Barbara has recently picked up a BAFTA for the Award winning drama 'Casualty'. Emmerdale, Coronation Street and Eastenders were all beaten by Casualty. |
