Position Contact Biography I began working for the University in 1999 after completing a year as a classroom support assistant at St Peter's High School in Gloucester. Since then I have worked as a Science technician for the school of Education and a multimedia technician for the School of Business. My current role is a Psychology Technician for the Department of Natural and Social Sciences. Over the years I have helped develop the Psychology Laboratory provision as well as administering both the Psychology and Sociology Online Communities in WebCT and the Natural and Social Sciences Departmental website. Bookable research and experimental space is available for students in room TC107 (Experimental Psychology Laboratory). Psychological resources and research equipment are managed and maintained by myself and I am the first point of contact for students with experimental needs. Information on laboratories and resources (including questionnaires and dissertation loans) can be found in the PY folder of the Information Server or on both Psych and Soc Online Communities in WebCT. I am a member of the Centre for Research in Applied Cognition, Knowledge, Learning and Emotion (CRACKLE). Our current project concerns ways of assessing situation awareness. This work is conducted in collaboration with Dr Graham Edgar, Dr Di Catherwood and Dritan Nikolla and is being funded by a grant of £247,000 awarded under the MoD’s Competition of Ideas. The aim of the project is to develop methodology for measuring situtaion awareness and to link this to EEG measurements. I am also a member of the Association for Technical Staff in Psychology (ATSiP), which is the professional body for Psychology Technicians and one that has offered me the opportunity to network with like-minded colleagues. In my spare time I enjoy writing, acting and cartooning, and am currently working on the illustrations for a series of Key Stage 2 textbooks due out in September 2009 (can be pre-ordered here and here). I founded the University Drama Society in 2005 which I ran as President for a year. Our first production was in May 2006, where I wrote, directed and performed in one of the plays. Useful Links |
