Biography
David graduated in 1993 with a BSc Psychology with Computing (University of Ulster) and then with an MSc in Occupational Psychology (University of Nottingham).  David worked as an occupational psychologist in management development and recruitment in 1994 and then in performance management in 1995.  His experiences in performance management led David to start a part-time PhD in 1996 examining temporary workers.  David then worked for a specialist training provider where he led a small team of trainers for two years and then moved to an International Management Consultancy.  During this period (1998-2002), David led several consultancy and research projects and developed an appetite for research both in the UK and abroad.  At the same time, David lectured on a part-time basis at several locations including: University of Swansea, Cambridge Marketing College and University College Northampton.  David then worked for a niche Assessment Centre consultancy providing management development and assessment services.  David joined Gloucestershire in September 2003 and lectures at undergraduate and postgraduate level.  He developed the MSc in Business Psychology, developed the MSc in Occupational Psychology and delivers consultancy services.

Research Interests
David is interested in three main research areas:  1. temporary employment, and its influence on individuals, organizations and society; 2. the impact of technology in selection techniques; 3. occupational issues in general, e.g., worker relations, applicant reactions to selection decisions, work within the emergency services, innovative assessment centre exercises, etc.
