Dr Nigel McLoughlin Position Contact His work has twice been short-listed for the prestigious Hennessy Award, placed in the equally competitive Kavanagh Awards and The New Writer Poetry Prizes. His poetry collections are: At The Waters' Clearing (Flambard/Black Mountain, 2001), Songs For No Voices (Lagan, 2004), Blood (Bluechrome, 2005) and Dissonances (Bluechrome 2007). His poetry and translations from the Irish and German languages have been published in many journals and anthologies in Ireland, Britain, USA, Canada, Australia, Europe, Japan, Nepal and Malaysia. His work has been translated into Dutch and Malay and has also featured as 'Poem of the Week' in both The Guardian and The Independent on Sunday and has appeared in The London Magazine, Poetry Review, The Irish Times and Sunday Tribune. He co-edited an anthology of contemporary Irish poets, Breaking The Skin (Black Mountain, 2002), and has published book reviews and academic essays in a number of journals and on the internet. He was guest Poetry Editor for two issues of The New Writer and was recently Guest Editor of The Black Mountain Review and Guest Arts Editor for Fortnight. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Fellow of the RSA. |
