Your entitlement as a student of the University:

• To receive free and impartial advice and guidance about all aspects of student accommodation
• To receive assistance in securing your accommodation

The University's expectations of you as a student:

• To seek advice and guidance about student accommodation
• To honour your commitments as a student tenant
• To be considerate to the needs of fellow resident students and the local community

Stage 1: Consideration at local level

• Initially students who feel that the support they have received is inadequate should discuss this matter with the relevant member of staff
• If no resolution is reached students should write to the Housing Manager who will arrange a meeting if necessary
• If no resolution is reached then the student would be advised to appeal to the Accommodation Adjudication Panel (Stage 2). The Student Complaints Form is completed at this point

Stage 2: Consideration by the Accommodation Adjudication Panel

• This arbitration panel is chaired by the Head of the Student Services or their representative. The President of the Students' Union or their representative is the second member of this panel. The third member of the Adjudication Panel is a member of staff who has no connection with the area of complaint
• The Adjudication Panel receives written representations from all parties and also holds a formal hearing at which witnesses may be called
• Any decision of the Adjudication Panel is final and binding on all parties
