Getting Active: advance information for Francis Close Hall Campus students

Welcome

A big welcome to everyone studying within the Faculty of Education, Humanities & Sciences at Francis Close Hall Campus, University of Gloucestershire.  You will find that we place a great emphasis on providing you with an Active Learning experience in your programme.  We were recently awarded national Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning status for our use of Active Learning.  As a consequence a new Centre for Active Learning (CeAL) has been created, which will be assisting you to get the best academic experience out of your time here.

We want you to develop as active learners during your time at the University and therefore place great emphasis on developing your learning skills.  The whole learning experience at the University is based on a collaborative partnership between you, the academic staff, staff in the CeAL and learning support staff in the University.

These pages provide an introduction to your new learning experience.  They will explain what we expect of you, what support is available and what you can expect to be happening as part of your induction to your programme and the University.  They also provide you with resources and information to help you start to reflect on how you learn.  Understanding how you learn is an important part of the learning development process, this information will also help us in supporting your transition and development into higher education.
